A taste of the Mornington Peninsula

Hidden Harbour Marina - experience Stillwater at Crittenden

Stillwater at Crittenden restaurant

It’s so refreshing to visit somewhere new. Especially when it feels like a real escape from the everyday.

If you’re looking for a way to make the most of these summer days, nothing beats a delicious lunch basking in the sun. Looking out over a private lake on a Mornington vineyard makes it even better.

Just a few minutes from Hidden Harbour Marina is the iconic vineyard of Crittenden Estate. There you’ll also find the award winning restaurant Stillwater at Crittenden.

On our recent visit to Stillwater we were warmly welcomed and led through the bright elegant dining room to the deck that overlooks the private lake. Soaking in the stillness of the lake and vineyards we were lost in time chatting and contemplating the tempting menu options.

The corn fed duckbreast, popcorn polenta, zucchini flowers and Red Hill cherry walnut emulsion and truffle sauce was absolutely divine, a melt in the mouth experience. My companions couldn’t pass up the Tasmanian eye fillet, and of course we all wanted to accompany our meals with some great Crittenden Estate Pinot Noir.

Stillwater offers elegant fine dining but is also very friendly and relaxed. Before dessert we explored the gardens and satisfied our curiosity by getting a closer look at the neon elephant and giraffe we could see from the deck. If you get a chance to come to Stillwater before the end of February, you too will be delighted by the whimsical creatures sculpted by Tom Ripon.

The playfulness and curiosity continued with the dessert menu that contains such things as Spiced strawberry doughnuts and Chocolate, cherry, buttermilk with raspberry popping candy. Both imaginative and delicious.

Overall we found lunch at Stillwater at Crittenden a lovely experience. Great food, great location and friendly staff. Come and enjoy a beautiful lunch at this iconic winery. You may wish to stop by the cellar door too which is an experience in itself.
